The producer then exercises good judgement in preparing those stories for a live newscast and on multiple station platforms including fox4kc.com and social media sites. ResponsibilitiesThe major responsibilities of this job include but are not limited to:Prepare and execute live, compelling television newscasts.Identify creative production and graphic techniques for a great newscast. Select news stories for assigned newscasts.Responsible for accuracy, balance and fairness of all stories written.   Ability to react to breaking news quickly and accurately.Make appropriate ethical and legal decisions following journalistic guidelines.   Ability to work autonomously and use independent judgment on stories, images, and video Develop story ideasKnowledge of current local, national and international events and issuesWork effectively under multiple deadlinesWork effectively with coworkers, including but not limited to news managers, reporters photojournalist, video editors directors, anchors, engineers and other producersIndependently research stories.Social media posting and e-blasts.Duties as assigned.Distribution of Responsibilities:75% -- Selects news stories and other content for daily newscasts. Identify opens and graphic elements for highly-produced newscast. 80% of this work has full discretion and 20% is reviewed by managers.15% – Contributes story ideas daily and works aggressively to increase traffic on web and mobile platforms. Serves as a leader within the newsroom, offering advice and assistance to other employees. Full discretion in this area.10% -- Boothing newscasts. Executes newscast plan and manages timing, manages format to maximize meter performance, handles all breaking news within newscast. Full discretion in this area. QualificationsBA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field.TV and/or producing experience preferred Strong writing skills and knowledge of AP style requiredStrong graphics skills desiredStrong computer skills desiredMust be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people.Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines.Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Must be able to speak clearly (with or without corrective devices).Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.Must be able to work assigned shifts which include overnights, nights and weekendsAbility to do other tasks as assigned by news management.Company InfoTribune Media Company (NYSE: TRCO) is home to a diverse portfolio of television and digital properties driven by quality news, entertainment, and sports programming.
