How much does it cost to join as a Basic Member?
A basic membership is FREE. This allows you to search for jobs, add your personal account information, complete your profile and upload your resume. If you choose to upgrade to a Premium Membership, which includes many additional benefits, including resume assistance, career coaching, and features one-on-one interview with our Career Counselors, the cost is $9.99 a month

How do I upgrade to a Premium Membership?
If you are already a Basic Member, all you need to do is log onto your account and enter “my subscription” and select the upgrade option that suits you. If you are new to greenlightjobs, simply create a new user name and password and you can automatically select the Premium Member option when you create your user profile. Can I still get a job if I am not a Premium Member?
Yes, basic members have the same access to our searchable database and job postings as premium members. However, Premium Members have access to a wider range of tools to display their qualifications such as career counseling and coaching, resume assistance, and career networking tools. A Premium Membership allows our subscribers to present the true range of their qualifications by taking advantage of the many additional member benefits. You will receive personalized career guidance from one of our Career Counselors who will assist you with a whole host of career related services. How do I apply for jobs?
First, make sure you fill out the “my profile” section of The Control Room as completely as possible, including your resume and video portfolio if applicable. After you search for a job, there are three ways to apply ( not all of them may not be available depending on the job): “apply direct”, “apply here”, and “apply via email.” If you wish to send your resume directly to the Employer from a job posting, you can do that by selecting “Apply Direct.” Many Employer sites have profile requirements and applicant tracking systems where they can only accept your resume directly through their site. After you click on “apply direct”, you will be taken to the job posting on the employer’s website. If the employer has profile requirements and/or applicant tracking system, please fill out the required information. Greenlightjobs recommends using this option whenever possible to make sure that they have your information handy. “Apply here” allows our members to send their resume directly to the employer via the employer account they have set up with greenlightjobs. Employers will get an email notification letting them know that they have applicants interested in the posted position(s). “Apply via email” sends an email directly to the employer from your email address with your resume. We recommend that our members first use the “apply direct” option and follow up with the “apply here” or “apply via email”.

Can I join the site without agreeing to the Terms of Use/Privacy Policy?
No. In order to register and activate your account, you must agree to the Terms of Use AND the Privacy Policy during the registration process if you are an Applicant or an Employer. The Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are a mandatory condition to use the site and the policies are the same for both the Applicant and the Employer. If you have any questions about these policies, please contact us at info@greenlightjobs.com and enter “Terms of Use/Privacy Policy” in the subject line. We recommend that you become familiar with the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy listed on the site before you register to become a member.

Will greenlightjobs have a job posted near me?
We have jobs postings from all over the world, although the predominant job markets include New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Type your location in the “location” field and if a job is available in your city, the field will autopopulate for choices in your area. Click on “advanced search” to get jobs located within a certain number of miles to your city or zipcode.

I'm perfect for a job listing I see. What's next?
If you see a job listing that's perfect for you, you can do one of two things. First, update your online application by logging into you’re “my profile.” Make sure you consider including your resume or online portfolio and a web link to a website if you have one, so that the recruiter who is searching the candidate database can get as much information about you as possible. TIP: Making sure your resume is tailored to the job requirements given the competitiveness of the marketplace these days is important as well, since recruiters are inundated with resumes and portfolios that do not match what they are looking for. Remember, you only have one shot to make a good first impression so make sure you take advantage of all of the tools and resources at your disposal. If you need additional assistance, consider a premium membership so that our staff can assist you with writing a targetted resume, profile and expanding your network.

Who has access to my resume and profile?
Employer clients, recruiters, hiring managers, etc. and greenlightjobs Career Counselors who have registered onto the site as well and have authorized and secured access to your information once you are registered with greenlightjobs.

How many files can I upload?
As a Basic Member, you are able to upload your resume up to 5 MB of data for FREE. As a Premium Member you are able to upload multiple forms of media including your resume, portfolio, video, audio, drawings and images, each having a maximum file size of 25 MB. In either case, we recommend you also include a link to your web site if you have one, where interested recruiters can review more of your work regardless of which membership category you select.

What is the best format to use when uploading my resume or portfolio?
We support most resume file formats but those recommended are MS Word (.doc and .docx) or .pdf as Employers and Recruiters prefer the visual display of your resume in these formats. In addition, if you are uploading additional files as a Premium Member to your portfolio, you may include .mov,.mp4, .wmv, .jpg, .gif, .png, and, .tif files (high resolution based on available bandwidth).

How can I promote myself in addition to posting my resume?
Premium members have access to three promotion tools: The Lot, the Green Room, and the Creative Network.

Premium members are encouraged to submit a brief bio with photo to promote yourself and your skills on “The Lot.” “The Lot” is located on the Employer section of greenlightjobs. This helps our jobseekers highlight and network over 75,000 + monthly unique visitors! Who knows, you may even get a job offer! Please email us your request and you may be asked to supply a brief bio and picture and email us at customerservice@greenlightjobs.com and indicate “The Lot” in your subject line. A greenlightjobs staff member will contact you for follow-up and discuss next steps with you and how and when you will be promoted on “the lot.”

Premium members get invited to join the “Green Room.” The "Green Room" is your opportunity to network with your entertainment and media colleagues. Here you will learn more about exclusive news, production notices, events, forums, and other insider information. This is your invitation-only backstage pass to get networked.

The “Creative Network” is dedicated to showcasing the reels of the talented jobseekers on our site. Premium members can to upload their reel so that our over 75,000 + monthly unique visitors can view their creative work on located on the “Job Seekers” or “Employer” pages of greenlightjobs.com. If you are a Premium Member and are interested in showcasing your video or artwork on the “creative network,” please send us an email us at customerservice@greenlightjobs.com and indicate the “creative network” in your subject line. A greenlightjobs staff member will contact you for follow-up and working with you on which reel will be best suited to showcase your work. Keep in mind, we are only able to showcase non-copyrighted or non-trademarked material and only those pieces that you have permission to use.

How can I showcase my creative work on the homepage?
If you are interested in showcasing some of your creative work such as videos, animation, stills, drawings, etc, we also have a place for you! In the “creative network” you can upload your reel so that our over 50,000 + monthly unique visitors can view your creative work on located on the “job seekers” or “employer” pages. This too is reserved for our Premium Members. So if you are a Premium Member and are interested in showcasing your video or artwork on the “creative network,” please send us an email us at customerservice@greenlightjobs.com and indicate the “creative network” in your subject line. A greenlightjobs staff member will contact you for follow-up and working with you on which reel will be best suited to showcase your work. Keep in mind, we are only able to showcase non-copyrighted or non-trademarked material and only those pieces that you have permission to use.

What should be included in my portfolio?
Your portfolio should include a variety of your work including your best stills, creative shots, an updated resume, and audio and video reels if applicable and a link to an external website. Remember, it's best to include as much information as possible and not make the recruiter "look" to find out more. greenlightjobs is a one-stop-shop to display all of your work. We encourage you to take advantage of the technology that allows you to showcase your talents to the hiring manager and to really stand out. Take advantage of the benefits of the Premium Membership as you are able to upload up to 50 MBS of data which allows you greater flexibility to showcase as much as your creative work as possible.

How do I edit my online application and resume once it’s uploaded?
You can edit your online application and resume very easily. First, log in to greenlightjobs with your username and password. When you are logged in, you select “my profile”. From there, you can edit any of the information under “my profile” including work history, education, contact information, etc. If you have any questions, you can always contact us at info@greenlightjobs.com

How do I cancel my premium membership?
You can cancel your premium membership two ways. First, log in and go to the "manage your account" section of the site. In “My Subscription” section of the page (in the upper right hand corner), click on the “cancel my Premium Subscription” link. Then type “CONFIRM” in the field to verify that this is what you want to do. You will be downgraded to a basic member unless you choose to delete your account. Once you have canceled your premium membership, your credit card will no longer be charged. Please note that once you cancel your premium membership you will not receive a pro-rata portion of your subscription dues. Second, you can cancel your premium membership my deleting your profile. Simply click on the “delete my profile” link your “control room.” This will both cancel your premium membership and delete your profile from our system.

Please note that when you cancel your premium membership you will not be refunded the pro-rated amount of your membership that month.

How do I delete, deactivate, change or reactivate my account?
You can delete, deactivate or change your account in the “my subscription” section of your profile. You may select one of three options, Delete, Deactivate (which will hide your profile from anyone viewing it from the outside), or Change. Please remember that once you delete your account, you will not be visible to any recruiter or Employer searching the database. You will then be required to set up a new User Name and Password if you wish to re-activate your account in the future. If you delete your account and you are a Premium Member, you will not receive any pro-rata portion of any subscription dues already paid. Your subscription will be deleted as of the date you entered it into the system and you will not be charged a subscription fee for the next billing period or for the next month. If you are not sure about wanting to remove yourself from the database for a temporary time period, we recommend that you “deactivate” your account instead. By deactivating your account, you will remove it from the searchable database and no one will view or have access to your information. You will still be in the database as an “inactive” user, but your profile will not be removed. You may change your information by selecting the “Update” edit feature on your profile. If you wish to reactivate your account, please log in using your user name and password and go to “my subscription” page and select “reactivate” my account. Your profile will once again be available for view and you will be active in the searchable database.

Can I change my password?
Yes, once you create a user name and log in to your account, you can select “my profile” and then select “update”. You will then be in the “edit member profile.” From there you can change your account information including your password.

What if I forget my username and password?
You may select “Forget Password?” on the member log in box on the homepage of the site. By entering your email address you created with your account, we will email you your user name and password to your email address.

When will I interview with a Career Counselor from greenlightjobs?
If you are a Premium Member, or when you upgrade from a Basic Member, you will be contacted by one of our Career Consultants who will help evaluate your resume, portfolio and answer any questions you might have, review your online application, review and critique your online portfolio and give you career counseling and guidance preparing you for your next job interview. Our experts have many years experience working in the Media and Entertainment industry and will be able to guide you in addressing your career questions and help you network and connect to your next job!

How often are job postings updated?
We promote, update and display Employer client job listings on a daily basis. We work with our partners such as SimplyHired, Indeed, Media Match, and Yahoo! Hot Jobs where we push jobs to their sites and offer updates from their site to ours as well. We also get daily updates from Time Warner, Turner, HBO, Warner Bros, LucasFilm, LucasArts, Disney, etc. New employers register on your site daily to post new jobs opportunities. This way you have one place, greenlightjobs to search for active, open positions in the entertainment industry.

Do you work with schools and university graduates?
Yes. greenlightjobs works very closely with schools and universities throughout the world offering career counseling, coaching and speaking engagements to students who are looking to embark on a career in the media & entertainment field.
