Career Q&A with Eric Snyder [8/13 #3]

by Eric Snyder, Founder, College-2-Career

Eric Snyder
Question:
How do I leverage my alumni network to look for a job?
Answer:
If you haven’t done it yet, by all means, go online and get set up with your school’s career placement office. Most schools have online services available.

Companies post jobs, set up interviews, conduct job fairs and look for specifically "degreed" graduates by coordinating with the career placement center. Your school might call its placement office by a different name, but pretty much all schools have an office that is set up specifically to help you look for a job.

Keep in mind that throughout your career, the placement center is always a great resource for you long after you’ve graduated. It’s a good idea to keep your profile and contact information current. Should you wish to make a change to your current job or to network, the placement center typically offers alums ways to learn of opportunities or how to get in touch with other alums that might be able to help you network.
